WHY THIS PIECE

Cocktail shakers turn out to be one of the older objects in the human record. Archaeologists have found vessel fragments in South America carrying traces of alcohol that suggest people were mixing drinks something like nine thousand years ago, which makes the shaker a very old idea in a very refined form.
