CONDITION NOTES
• Overall: Excellent condition.
• Stone: No chips, cracks, or losses noted along the edges or interior.
• Surface: Polish is intact throughout, with the black and silver inclusions running through the body of the stone as part of the material rather than as damage.
• Please note: This is a solid carved stone ring with no metal shank. Stone rings cannot be sized up or down.

WHY THIS PIECE
• Torque is Gehry's most architectural work for Tiffany. A band with a twist worked through it, the same warped-surface language he built into his buildings.
• Carving a torque form from solid stone is genuinely difficult, which is why the stone versions were produced in far smaller numbers than the metal ones and rarely surface today.
• The jasper here is exceptional. Black and silver inclusions run all the way through the stone, so the pattern shifts as the band turns on the hand and no two examples look alike.
• At 7.5mm the band has real substance and reads as a sculptural object rather than a ring with a stone set into it.
• Long retired and a serious piece for anyone collecting Gehry's Tiffany work or design-led jewelry generally.
