WHY THIS PIECE

• The Bottle is one of Peretti's most conceptual designs — a working vessel, the bottle is open and can hold a flower, which is exactly the kind of quiet idea that made her work stand apart at Tiffany.
• Rock crystal (quartz) has to be carved and hollowed rather than cast, so far fewer were made than the silver bottles, and intact examples rarely surface.
• The clarity of the crystal against the long, fine chain gives the piece a sculptural presence without any weight to it.
• Long retired and difficult to source in this condition.
• At 28 inches on a 1.5mm chain, it wears long and moves beautifully — equally at home over a sweater or on its own.
